A man whose body was found at a house in Courtown Harbour just before midnight at Red Row, in the townland of Ballintray Lower, Courtown Harbour, has been named locally as John Lawlor, (48).
The father of three is well-known and respected in the district and due to his connection with Courtown Hibs the planned Christmas Day Swim at Courtown was cancelled as a mark of respect earlier today.
A second man found injured at the scene, was arrested after being released from hospital and was taken to Enniscorthy Garda Station for questioning under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
Gardaí are not looking for anybody else in connection with the matter.
The remains of the dead man have been taken to Waterford Regional Hospital and a post mortem will be carried out tomorrow.
