AN INVESTIGATION into a serious assault on a young man in a Co. Wexford town is ongoing this week.

The incident occurred in New Ross at around 2 a.m. on December 21.

A spokesperson for the local Gardai said the victim, a 21 year-old man from the Campile area of Wexford, was initially treated for his injuries at Waterford Regional Hospital.

However, he was subsequently referred for further treatment to Cork University Hospital.
