Just weeks after the majority of shareholders in the Wexford Milk Producers group voted in favour of a deal, which would see Glanbia Ingredients Ireland Ltd takeover Wexford Creamery, over 200 attended a meeting in Taghmon last Friday to discuss other options which were and might still be open to the shareholders.
Owners of the Omagh based company Strathroy, who are keen to acquire a new milk supply pool in the Republic of Ireland attended the meeting and told the crowd that they were very eager in acquiring the Wexford plant.
Agricultural consultant Richard Rea speaking after the meeting told The Echo that he believes the contract with GIIL, which was approved at a meeting on December 3rd by a 57% majority, is “so unfair and full of penalties that it should not have been signed”.
