BUDDING YOUNG film-makers from across County Wexford should take note of a fantastic free three-day course taking place next month.

County Wexford Youth Film Project will be running the course in St. Michael’s Theatre, New Ross, to coincide with the February mid-term break.

The course will be aimed at teenagers aged between 13 and 18 and is open to young people from all over the county.

It will be held on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, February 19 to 21 and will take place between 10.30 a.m. and 4 p.m. each day.

The course facilitator will be respected Wexford film-maker, Terence White.

“The course is mainly aimed at new participants but young people already taking part in the project can put their name on the waiting list,” he told The Echo.

Participants will learn about all of the key elements involved in film-making including: script-writing, camera operation, sound recording, acting for screen, directing and post-production.

“A short film will be devised and shot by the participants using new equipment that the project bought with a €5,000 grant from Wexford Co. Council in 2012,” said Mr. White.

The film created during the three-day course will be premiered at the Wexford Widescreen Youth Film Festival which will take place in April. The participants will also be given a copy of the film on DVD.

The County Wexford Youth Film Project is funded by the Arts Department of Wexford County Council and the Arts Council in conjunction with St. Michael’s Theatre.
