A woman who stole a total of €12,064 apologised to the Judge and to her former colleagues at Celtic Linen whom she described as her “ex-friends”.
The 35 counts of theft occurred at the Drinagh based plant between April 2 and November 19, 2010.
On the first day of the case on January 30th 2012 the defendant entered a guilty plea and paid €2,740 in compensation but a total of €9,324 remained outstanding.
Defence solicitor Ed King told the court that his client had done failed to put by any money herself to go towards the payment of the remaining amount.
The case had appeared at court on 17 previous occasions and the defendant had previously instructed her solicitor that someone who had “let her down at last minute” had promised her the money.
“It is with some reticence that I am instructed that if given another opportunity to pay my client can pay €5,000 on February 15th and €1,000 a month there after until paid…I appreciate that everyone’s patience is tried,” said Mr King.
Kehoe indicated that she had a relation willing to lend her the money, but would not tell the solicitor who it was because the person wished to remain anonymous.
The judge adjourned the case until the next day, Febraury 4th, to allow Mr King and Inspector Pat MacDonald an opportunity to carry out investigations to determine if it was realistic that this person would lend Kehoe the money.
The following day Kehoe arrived in court and paid €750, which a relation had given to her, and arrangements were made for the payment of the remainder. The case was adjourned until March 3rd.
