
The five candidates who will run for Fine Gael in next May’s Local Elections, Cllr. John Hegarty, Anthony Donohue, Aine Lacy-O’Meara, Cllr. Michael Kinsella and Cllr. Daren Keegan.
Fine Gael is running five candidates in the Gorey District in May’s Local Elections and they were chosen at a selection convention attended by nearly 200 people last Sunday night.
Sitting councillors John Hegarty and Michael Kinsella will be joined on the ticket by Gorey Town Councillor Darren Keegan, and newcomers Anthony Donohue and Aine Lacy-O’Meara.
There were six candidates nominated – Cllrs John Hegarty and Michael Kinsella, two sitting town councillors, Darren Keegan and Colin Webb, and two first-time candidates, Anthony Donohue and Aine Lacy-O’Meara.
When the result was announced, it was Colin Webb, a member of Gorey Town Council, who was unfortunate not to be selected.
Warm tributes were paid to Michael Darcy, senior, and Angie Dooley whose terms as Gorey town councillors will come to an end in May.
The meeting was addressed by Minister Paul Kehoe, Senator Michael D’Arcy, MEP Sean Kelly and Senator Deirdre Clune, his running mate in the new Ireland-South constituency in the European elections, also being held on Friday, May 23rd.
