A NEWLY formed committee of residents in Templeshannon housing estates is ready to fight back against the problem of burglaries in the local area.

Speaking to The Echo, Breda Ryan said that they were delighted with the turn-out at the meeting and thanked everyone for their continued support.

The committee is made up of people from Gimont, Slaney View, Fr. Murphy Park, the Barleyfields and O’Brien’s Range. Ms. Ryan said that this highlights the large area affected by burglaries.

The next step, she explained, was to engage with Muintir na Tíre to set up a Neighbourhood Watch scheme and a text alert.
