Well-known Barntown man Paul “Spud” Kelly (30) died when his car collided with a wall at the Newtown road in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The fatal single vehicle road traffic collision occurred at approximately 5a.m. when Mr Kelly, who was the sole occupant in the car, was returning home from Wexford town.
Gardai were alerted to the collision at 5.05a.m. and the popular young man was removed by ambulance to Wexford General Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
He is the beloved son of Pat and Olive Kelly.
His mother was away in Malta when news broke of her son’s death and faced the heartbreaking journey home on Sunday afternoon.
He is also survived by his brother Philip, sister Sharon and niece Alanna (9).
A large crowd from all over the country is expected to descend on Barntown Church tomorrow for his funeral Mass tomorrow (Wednesday).
