Kilmuckridge is a community in celebration after the local drama group scored an emphatic first All-Ireland Drama festival success in Claremorris, Co. Mayo.

This year’s play ‘The Weir’ by Conor McPherson had won over audiences and adjudicators at various festivals and went to the Confined Finals with a favourite’s chance.

Finally, fingers crossed turned to loud applause when the group reformed seven years ago and had reached the national finals on six occasions, were declared the drama champions of 2014.

The Adjudicator, Geoffrey O’Keeffe, praised the producer, Michael Johnston, for the outstanding performance stating the production was “of top drawer standard.”
