The largest number in the seven year history of the event turned out for ‘The Way of the Cross’ Good Friday ceremony through the streets of Gorey today.

The ecumenical gathering belongs to no group or individual, whoever turns up can participate, and each person took turns in carrying the cross.

The ceremony began at St. Michael’s Church with some verse, scripture reading and prayers of intercession; moving to the Methodist Church for some singing reading and prayer, and concluding at Christ Church with a reading and prayers of intercession.

Participants included Fr. Willie Howell and Fr. Matt Boggan of St. Michael’s Parish, Canon Mark Hayden, Rector, Gorey Union of Parishes, Fr. Aidan Jones, formerly of Riverchapel, and Rev. Steven Foster of the Methodist Church.
