Independent Ger Carthy is anticipated to top the poll with tallies suggesting that he received in excess of 1,900 first preference votes.
Sinn Fein’s Anthony Kelly is in a close second place with 1,800 plus votes.
Current mayor George Lawlor (Labour) is believed to have drawn almost 1,600 first preferences.
Fianna Fail’s Tony Dempsey is expected to have received upwards of 1,400 votes. Meanwhile, his party colleague Fergie Kehoe is next with almost 1,000 first preferences.
Fine Gael’s Jim Moore is next with in excess of 900 votes.
His party colleague Frank Staples is believed to be just three votes short of Cllr’s Moore’s tally of votes.
Sinn Fein’s Mick Roche is expected to have allotted in excess of 800 first preferences.
