STUDENTS UNDERTAKING PLC courses at Enniscorthy Vocational College will have a great opportunity of securing a place at renowned Welsh university Aberystwyth from now on.

Enniscorthy Castle recently played host to members of both colleges for the official signing of a new pathway agreement between the two.

This new agreement will give students in Enniscorthy the opportunity of a guaranteed place in university providing they meet the agreed criteria in their home course.

Liam Sharkey, Media PLC tutor, is a past student of Aberystwyth and helped create the link between the two colleges in 2000. Since then, over 70 students have gone through the system.

He said: “The new Pathway Agreement has now linked Sport and Leisure, and Science and Legal Studies which will see an increase in the number of students continuing their education in Wales.”

He added that the hope was that by next year, Enniscorthy Vocational College of Further Education will be the top feeder institute in the world to Aberystwyth University.
