A HURLING fan who launched a racist tirade against a Wexford hurler has confirmed to The Echo that he has received death threats.

His comments, too vile to publish in a family newspaper, appeared on a Facebook page and were targeted at a member of the Wexford hurling team. They were posted on Sunday night, following Wexford’s comprehensive defeat to Limerick in the All Ireland Hurling Championship.

Contacted by this newspaper, the young man, whose private details we have withheld from publishing for his own safety, blames alcohol for his comments and said that he would never had made such a comment if he hadn’t been under the influence of alcohol.
