Gardai are investigating a two-car road traffic collision that occurred at a junction near Peig’s Bar at Ballygarrett just after 6 pm this evening.

It appears that one of the cars may have been emerging from a junction when struck by an oncoming vehicle.

There were heavy showers in the area at the time.

It is understood that the occupants of both cars, who may have been visitors to the district, escaped uninjured.

The road between Courtown and Ballygarrett is open to traffic.
