Pink is the colour you’ll find everywhere in Gorey next Sunday, September 14th, there will be music too… and an atmosphere of celebration and encouragement of every variety to having a good time.
There is going to be a very big party on Esmonde Street a ‘Party in Pink’, Ireland’s first music festival in aid of the Irish Cancer Society – Action Breast Cancer awareness.
Already the colour pink has been dominated amongst the traders, but on Sunday Gorey will be festooned with big pink balloons, and there will be live bands and DJ’s playing until 10 pm.
Amongst those participating are DJ Karl O’Keefe, Bourbon Street Jazz Band, Dixieland Jazz, Alex Jordan & Co, (Electric Picnic 2014), Paul Hayes DJ, 5 Dollar Shakes, (5 piece indie pop rock band from Gorey), DJ Tom Low, RTE Pulse Sunshine Audio.
Oh and did we mention that local hero’s The Tasmanian Dust Devils are reforming to play at the festival?
Bui Bolg will be there.
Bui Bolg transform and re-imagines spaces, through spectacular installations, and street art performances.
In addition to this, there will be an artisan food marquee, traditional fairground rides for children and face painting.
Eric McGuire of McGuire Jewellers on Esmonde Street is the main man behind this event.
He explained “that what started off as an idea of a small event has grown into a massive street party because of strong support and sponsorship from other local businesses including the Redmond Hotel Group, Sean Doyle and other retailers on Esmonde Street.”
“It is imperative though” he stresses “that people know that every single cent donated will go directly to the Irish Cancer Society – Action Breast Cancer, as the costs of putting this festival together are being borne entirely by the local sponsors.”
There is no admittance fee to the festival but people are asked to donate to the bucket collections on the day or they can donate.
Everyone is welcome to ‘Party in Pink’ and wear pink if you want to!
