Due to the adverse weather conditions there are currently 20,000 electricity customers in the south of the country without power supply.

The main areas affected are Cork, Clonakilty, Dunmanway, Bandon, Gorey, Enniscorthy, Thomastown.

Reports are also coming in of outages in the New Ross and Fethard-on-Sea areas.

In Wexford town, there is no power in homes on Distillery Road, but the street lights are on.

Due to conditions it is not possible to carry out repairs and these customers may be out over night.

ESB Networks crews will be dispatched at first light to carry out repairs.
Several homes are without  the UPC cable  television service in Enniscorthy.

A spokesperson from UPC said they expect normal service to resume around 10.30 am tomorrow.
