Market House Design, an initiative of Gorey Chamber of Commerce and Wexford County Council opened its second exhibition last Tuesday, ‘A Celebration of Place’ performed by Paul Carter, director of Gorey School of Art.

This exhibition is the first venture of Market House Design as part of the Wexford Opera Fringe with it being listed as an out of town venue for the world renowned music festival.

Market House Design was created to develop a centre of excellence for craft workers, provide a space for fine art and to create a visitor attraction in the bustling market town of Gorey.

More than 20 exhibitors, ranging from Aosdána member Mick Mulcahy, Paul Maloney pottery, fine art by Kathleen Delaney, noted weaver Gráinne Kenny and fledgling craft workers like Gearóidín de Bláca and Robin Funge, Market House Design continues to promote a high standard and quality which is very much in evidence with this exhibition.

Speaking at the opening of the exhibition, Gorey Chamber President Keith Groake stated: “This is a significant development for Market House Design, we want to place it as a regional craft and design centre and our link into the fringe of Wexford Opera Festival is a first for Gorey and in indication of where we see Market House Design progressing into the future.”

The exhibition will run until Monday, November 3 and is open Monday to Saturday 9.30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
