A MAJOR new sponsorship agreement has been made between Allianz Ireland and New Ross Rugby Club (NRRFC).
The deal, which is Allianz Ireland’s first ever direct rugby sponsorship in Ireland, was announced at the weekend and invovles a two-year term.
As well as featuring as the primary sponsor on the jerseys worn by the local club’s first team as part of the deal the club’s home venue has been re-named Allianz Park.
While Allianz has been involved in supporting sports organisations at home and abroad in the past the new deal marks its first ever time giving direct rugby sponsorship in Ireland.
Since being formed in 1936 New Ross Rugby Club has enjoyed an incredible history of success. The club has also expanded enormously from humble beginnings and now has over 300 playing members across all its grades.
The new deal and the re-naming of the club ground will see New Ross Rugby Club join the ranks of some of sports most legendary clubs who enjoy similar arrangements with Allianz including: Bayern Munich (the Allianz Arena), Saracens (Allianz Park), Sydney Warratahs (Allianz Stadium), Palmeiras FC (Allianz Parque) as well as OGC Nice (Allianz Riviera).
Commenting on the development, NRRFC President, Michael Bailey, said the future is very exciting for the club.
“We’re delighted to have Allianz on board as sponsors of New Ross RFC and are very excited to see what the future holds,” he said.
“To have the support of one of the most recognised sporting sponsors in the country is not only great for New Ross RFC, but also for the game of club rugby in Wexford and in Ireland and we’re thrilled to be a part of this chapter in history.”
The Head of Marketing for Allianz, Damien O’Neill, also commented on the deal and said his organisation was delighted to be involved with New Ross Rugby Club.
“It’s an exciting opportunity for us to be involved with a club with such a fascinating history,” he said.
“We look forward to building long lasting and meaningful links with New Ross RFC and its supporters,” he added.
