A 40-day extravaganza of festivities and events is in the pipeline for this Christmas, with the up-coming Wexford Winterland 2014.
The focal point of the activities will be the Quay with Wexford On Ice and the enchanting Christmas Forest and the Make a Wish Tree planned for the marina.
Festive music will be played along the length of the Main Street, and the Dunnes Stores windows will be transformed into series of atmospheric Christmas Scenes.
Selskar Square is also being transformed into a unique venue this Christmas where families can watch a classic Christmas movie together, while enjoying hot chocolate and roasted chestnuts.
At night the square transforms into “Selskar Under the Stars”, where visitors can enjoy a myriad of events, music gigs, orchestral performances and classic Christmas movies.
Events already confirmed include The Strypes, Extreme Rhythm, Corner Boy and the Gateway Orchestra. Selskar Under The Stars runs from December 12th until New Year’s Eve.
Wexford Winterland will be launched in style on Saturday, November 29th, when the town will be transformed into a riot of colour, sound and spectacle as the Christmas Parade takes to the streets.
Santa, Old King Coal and the Ice Queen along with 100 performers from Bui Bolg will wind their way through the streets, culminating at the Bull Ring for the official Turning On of the Festive Lights.
Late Night Shopping will commence on Thursday nights in the run up to Christmas, and Wexford County Council is offering free parking every Tuesday from 11am, starting on 18th November.
