“There was a lot of minor flooding, it was mainly surface water and didn’t cause too many problems,” said Executive Engineer, Neville Shaw.

Torrential rain fell early today in the North Wexford region.

Eight or nine inches of water collected under the Arklow Road railway bridge, but it wasn’t serious enough to close the road.

Kilmurray and Millands were affected.

There were reports of flooding at Riverchapel and on the Courtown Road.

A manhole cover lifted from its position over the sewerage system in Courtown village.

County Council workers sealed off the area for a time and a clean up took place afterwards.

Flooding was reported on the Gorey to Ballymoney road and at Junction 22 Gorey North on the M11.

A house was flooded at Ballymoney when a pipe came under pressure.

There was some good news when Esmonde Street, a traditional flooding spot in Gorey, responded well to the installation of a new pipe system and coped very well with huge amounts of rain that lashed the district.
