BK4924-C

A LOCAL school had its Garden of Remembrance officially opened last week.

On Thursday a large group of teachers, pupils, and parents gathered in Ramsgrange Church for the local Community School’s annual Mass for the Deceased.

It was celebrated by Monsignor Don Kenny P.P. A Tree of Remembrance was set up in the church to remember staff members and former pupils of the school who had passed away.

Following the mass the congregation went to the school where the formal opening ceremony of the newly developed Garden of Remembrance took place.

The Garden was created over the last number of months within the school grounds and it’s hoped it will provide a place of reflection for students and staff in the years ahead as they remember friends, colleagues and loved ones who are no longer with them.

The ceremony was very moving and there was a discernable air of poignancy evident as Mon. Kenny performed a blessing on the garden.

Following the ceremony refreshments were served in the school. Acknowledgments were paid to everyone associated with the Garden of Remembrance and especially to those who helped develop it over the last few months.
