TWO ARMED raiders, wearing balaclavas and gloves, escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash after a raid on Boyle Sports bookmakers in Gorey on Tuesday evening.
The alarm was raised around 6 p.m. when the raiders, one armed with a hand gun and the other brandishing a knife, entered the premises through a side door on Thomas Street.
They demanded cash from the staff members and a sum of money was handed over before the men left the premises by the same route.
Staff were left shaken and frightened by the incident, but no injuries were sustained.
Eyewitnesses told GardaĆ that they saw three men running away in the direction of Pearse Street and they left in a dark coloured car.
Gorey GardaĆ say they are following a certain line of enquiry, and are looking to hear from anyone who may have been in the centre of Gorey around 6 p.m. on Tuesday to come forward and help them with their investigation.
The incident was similar to that which occurred at Harringtons Bookmakers off the roundabout at The Avenue last January.
