A substantial amount of money was taken in a daylight robbery in Poulshone last Saturday after a man brandishing a large kitchen knife threatened a staff member.

The incident occurred at 2.45 p.m. last Saturday at a small family run roadside shop between Courtown and Ballygarrett.

The man produced a knife and shouted “Give me the money.”

A terrified staff member handed over what Gardaí have described as “a substantial amount of money” in a plastic bag.

No one was injured, although the staff member was traumatised.

Two men were seen fleeing the scene, one all dressed in black and the other was wearing a grey tracksuit bottoms with a blue hoodie and scarf.

The men were later seen running into Seaview estate.

Gardaí are treating the incident as “extremely serious” and would like anybody with any knowledge of incident, or were in the vicinity between 2.30 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturday afternoon to contact them urgently at 053 9430690.
