TRAGEDY STRUCK the communities of Blackwater and Curracloe last Tuesday when local man Noel O’Reily died in a quad bike accident.
The 51 year old from Kilmacoe was biking at popular natural beauty spot Ballinesker Beach when he was involved in a fatal accident.
The alarm was raised when Mr O’Reilly failed to return home after a number of hours.
A subsequent search involving local units of the Coast Guard and the Rescue 117 helicopter led to the discovery of his body at a location on the beach to the rear of Ballyvaloo Retreat Centre.
Mr O’Reilly had sustained serious head injuries and was conveyed by stretcher to an ambulance, which waited nearby at the closest access point.
Sadly, the married father of three was pronounced dead a short while later at Wexford General Hospital.
He is survived by his beloved wife Angela and three adult children; Mandy, Katie and Daniel.
Mr O’Reilly also had one young grandchild, Sophie.
A large crowd was in attendance for his Funeral Mass St. Margaret’s Church, Curracloe, on Sunday.
His remains were taken to Mount Jerome Crematorium after the service.
