A MEETING held in Ballycullane 10 years ago appeared to have had the majority of members of the current New Ross Municipal District Council in attendance.
The matter was raised at a meeting of the local authority in the Tholsel when Executive Engineer, Abraham Dunne, told the members that resurfacing of the road between the graveyard in Ballycullane and the Tintern Sports Complex was recently completed.
Significantly, that work involved road widening and the installation of 250m of footpaths and public lighting.
Cllr. Michael Whelan commented that he was in attendance at a meeting 10 years ago at which such improvements works were raised and said: “It’s good to see them done now.”
Cathaoirleach, Cllr. Larry O’Brien, told Cllr. Whelan that he had ‘neglected to mention’ the name of a lot of other councillors who were also at the meeting a decade ago – including himself.
“I would agree with that as well,” added Cllr. Martin Murphy.
Cllr. Michael Sheehan also said he was in attendance at the meeting – as did Cllr. Willie Fitzharris.
Cllr. O’Brien then complimented Mr. Dunne for the work carried out and he also acknowledged work being carried out in Ramsgrange.
“It will be a nice job,” he said.
He said the work being completed now was needed for the last number of years.
“I would also like to be associated with the comments regarding the Ballycullane work,” said Cllr. Sheehan.
Cllr. Fitzharris also complimented Mr. Dunne who he said was overseeing “a lot of good work”.
“It’s a good job,” he added.
He went on to comment there are a lot of plans in place for Ballycullane including the installation of a children’s play area.
Cllr. Murphy also heaped praise on Mr. Dunne for “all his good work”.
