NEW ROSS got a new priest at the weekend when Revd. Margaret Sykes was introduced as the new Priest-in-Charge to the New Ross Union of Parishes.

The ceremony took place in St. Mary’s Church on Friday evening before a large congregation of parishioners.

Revd. Sykes, who will administer the role on a part-time basis, was introduced at the service by Bishop of Cashel, Ferns and Ossory, Rt. Revd. Michael Burrows.

Revd. Sykes has been the acting Priest-in-Charge in the Baltinglass group of parishes in recent times.

The ceremony in New Ross on Friday served a duel purpose as Revd. Sykes was also instituted as Diocesan President of the Mother’s Union.
