THE RACE for the White House will come to New Ross next week with one of the prime contenders for America’s first citizen scheduled to attend.
David Mamet’s hilarious Oval office spoof, ‘November’, will be staged in St. Michael’s Theatre from Thursday to Saturday, January 29, 30 and 31, at 8 p.m. sharp.
The play, which is based around the tale of a power hungry, failing President desperate to hold onto power for “four more years”, will be presented by Black Widow Productions.
Martyn Gladney, in his first part with the group, takes on the difficult role of the President and is expected to be a huge favourite with audiences.
Catherine Gladney, who plays his script writer, is no stranger to the group having played the title roll in ‘Agnes of God’ in 2014.
Paul Malone appears on stage for the first time in many years as the manic Red Indian Chief who causes mayhem.
Well known for working the lights on numerous shows in St. Michael’s Theatre, Paul is really looking forward to being on the other side of the footlights for a change.
Co-founders of Black Widow Productions, Eamonn O’Connor and Ken Moroney, are also to the fore in the play with Mr. O’Connor playing the very funny part of a lobbyist for Turkey farmers, while Mr. Moroney plays the pivotal role of Presidential Advisor. The play is being Directed by another veteran of the New Ross theatrical scene, Eamonn O’Connor.
Tickets, priced €10, can be booked online or directly from the theatre box-office on 051-421255.
