DRIVERS WERE urged to take care on the roads as the temperatures plummeted leading to icy conditions last week.

Gardai were called to deal with a scene at Kyle Cross early on Thursday morning when a freight lorry belonging to Nolan Transport jack-knifed on the ice, left the road and ended up in the ditch.

There were no injuries and it is, as of yet, unclear how the accident occurred but a Garda spokesperson said the road conditions were a major factor.

Gardai remained at the scene for a number of hours, to keep diversions in place, while the clean-up was carried out.
