FOUR WEXFORD Co. Council officials were congratulated by their colleagues after they received word of promotions within the body on Monday afternoon.

With the abolition of the Town Council last year, Town Clerk roles have now become District Manager roles and are now higher on the scale as Level 8 positions. It is understood that up to 30 people applied for these four jobs.

There is no change in Gorey or Wexford where the previous Town Clerks Amanda Byrne and Angie Laffan remain in the newly named roles.

In Enniscorthy, previous Town Clerk and administrator, David Minogue lost out to his predecessor Padraig O’Gorman who comes back to his old alma mater with two years experience in an economic brief. Mr. Minogue is set to move to a role in the Communications section in the Co. Hall.

In New Ross, former Town Clerk Anthony Bailey also lost out, with current Wexford town engineer Sinead Casey taking up the Manager role. Mr. Bailey will move to the Housing section of the Co. Council.

Cllr. James Browne remarked to this newspaper that it was good news for his own district of Enniscorthy as it had two major construction projects coming down the line. He added that Mr. O’Gorman, having served the town before would be able to hit the ground running.

He wished Mr. Minogue the best of luck in his new role, commending him on his ability to work effectively with those around him.
