AN IMPROMPTU piece of sculpture which was created overnight from 48 bricks in the Corish roundabout in 2008 is the inspiration for Ireland’s public art presentation at the Venice Biennale art exhibition in 2015.

Kerry-born artist, Sean Lynch’s piece, Adventure: Capital, is inspired by Wexford’s unknown sculptor who erected a very temporary installation on the Corish roundabout when they, without authorisation, built a tower out of the bricks which they took from the structure. The structure made national news at that time and the present sculptor is keen to speak to anyone with information on that happening.

Whoever the person is, they have now contributed to a sculpture and multi-media installation by Mr. Lynch, as part of Ireland’s contribution to the global show.

With assistance from Wexford County Council, Mr. Lynch will be extracting 48 bricks from the roundabout on Thursday.  He will be working with aerial photography also to get images, from a flying drone, of the roundabout and the work in progress. Mr. Lynch will be at the roundabout from 10:30 a.m. on the day and welcomes enquires and comment if anyone wishes to talk to him.
