Recollection of the Arts Festival ’78 which is part of the Paul Funge exhibition at Gorey Civic Centre.

“PAUL NEVER did things by half, he always aimed high. When he was five or six years old if you asked him what he wanted to be when he grew up he had only one answer, he wanted to be the Pope! Well, he never quite made it to the Vatican, but he did paint a few bishops in his time.”

This humorous story was related by Joe Funge, speaking passionately about his brother, talented artist Paul, at the opening of a retrospective of Paul Funge’s art together with his memories of Gorey Art Centre which has gone on display at Gorey Civic Centre.

The exhibition continues at Gorey Civic Centre and Library until Monday, March 2. Free of charge.
