AN OBJECTION has been lodged with An Bord Pleanala against resubmitted plans for the building of a clubhouse on lands at Park which are the subject of long-running scrutiny.
Faythe Harriers GAA Club submitted a second set of plans for a new clubhouse after its first application was refused by An Bord Pleanala in August 2014. Permission was granted by Wexford Co. Council in February of this year for the building of a two-storey clubhouse.
Permission had been refused last year on the grounds that no documentation submitted had made reference to or acknowledged the existence of any protected sites or conservation areas in the surrounding lands. On this occasion, the club submitted a Natura Impact Statement.
However, in a submission objecting to the new development, Seamus Maye of the International Small Business Alliance, acting on behalf of Ms. Jacinta Somers, whose family owned the land at Park for many years, claims that the assessment carried out in the Natura Impact Statement is “wholly inadequate” in that it “sets out to establish pre-determined conclusions and is therefore not impartial”.
