Units of the fire service tackle a blaze at a Ferns pub this evening.

Two units of Enniscorthy Fire Service  was called to deal with a fire in a disused licensed premises in Ferns village this evening.

Smoke was noticed coming from Ritchie’s pub on the Lower Main Street at about 6 p.m.

The pub has not opened for business for about 15 years, but locals say it was being used for anti-social behaviour and people were seen leaving the premises when the alarm was raised.

The premises was badly smoke damaged.
