WEXFORD TD Mick Wallace could face 30 days in jail if he fails to pay a €2,000 fine handed down to him at Ennis District Court.

Deputy Wallace, along with fellow TD Clare Daly, were convicted of breaching airport regulations when they entered a restricted area of Shannon airport on July 22, 2014.

The case was heard over two days during which the defendants produced expert witnesses who gave evidence in relation to weapons on board US aircraft in Shannon.

Speaking outside the court after the conviction, Deputy Wallace said: “I wouldn’t pay that fine to save my life” while Deputy Daly echoed this sentiment, adding that they would not be appealing the conviction either. They were given three months to pay.
