A FERNS Childcare Service is claiming that because of delays in receiving grant support from the State, it needs to fund-raise privately.

Community Childcare Service, Teach na bPaisti, is a popular amenity for the local community, with 45 children on the roll books. The service was founded in 2001, and is managed by a committee from Ferns, providing play schools, after school care, full day care and camps during the Halloween, Easter and summer breaks.

Following delays by the Department of Family and Social Affairs to pay a Community Childcare Subvention Scheme(CCS) on time, a fund-raising drive has been launched.

Manager of Teach na bPaisti, Breda Levingstone, is the driving force behind the fundraising campaign to ensure vital services are retained.
