Seaside Guide 20

As part of a Garda operation a suspect device was discovered in a house at Harbour Court, near Courtown Harbour village, yesterday (Wednesday).

It is understood that component parts for explosive devices were discovered at the scene.

Gardaí are treating the matter as “extremely serious.”

The area is cordoned off overnight and the Army Explosive Ordinance  Disposal team is remaining at the scene.

Events at Courtown are as a result of an ongoing investigation by members of An Garda Siochana from the Special Detective Unit, Harcourt Square and Crime & Security, and Garda Headquarters into dissident Republican activity.

As part of this investigation four males were arrested.

One in his 60’s and the other three in their 20’s. All are currently detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against Act at various Garda Stations in the Dublin Metropolitan Region.

Arrests were made for various offences, including directing terrorism, membership of an unlawful organisation and possession of explosives.
