French Ambassador will visit Gorey on Tuesday.

The French Ambassador to Ireland, Jean-Pierre Thébault, accompanied by Isabelle Cohen, First Secretary at the Embassy of France, is paying an official visit to Wexford tomorrow (Tuesday) as a guest of the Chairman of Wexford County Council, Cllr. Malcolm Byrne.

The purpose of the visit is to improve tourism links between Wexford and France and the first stop for the Lourdes-born diplomat is Ferns Castle where he will take a tour of the castle and be informed on Norman and Wexford history.

Monsieur Thébault will be guest of honour at Gorey Civic Offices where he will meet with Wexford County Council Chief Executive, Mr Tom Enright, tourism officials and Chamber of Commerce representatives to discuss the Norman Trail concept and promoting tourism links between Wexford and France.

French community and business, tourism and arts interests, will also meet the Ambassador who has been in his post since February, 2014, and he will also visit La Baguette on Esmonde St., Gorey, a French business owned and run by Didier Senecal.

He will also visit Creagh College, Ireland’s newest Second Level school where he will be introduced to the students by Mr Paul Glynn, Principal.

The Ambassador will be asked to present the school’s annual French subject awards (eight in total) to the successful students.
