The Blackstairs Mountain range where a light aircraft crashed this afternoon.

A helicopter search has located the wreckage on a light aircraft which crashed in the Blackstairs Commons, near the village of Kiltealy, this afternoon.

Two men, one in his 50s and the other in his 60s, from Co. Meath were both confirmed deceased at the scene.

The incident was reported by a hillwalker at 2.40pm today.

Weather conditions were good at the time.

Search and rescue services were deployed to the area of the crash which is very difficult to access.

A rescue centre has been set up in Kiltealy village and Mountain Rescue teams will be flown to the scene over night.

The Air Accident Investigation Unit of the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport is investigating the incident.
