THE SAD and sudden passing of a popular young teacher at the Presentation Secondary School cast a dark shadow over the beginning of hundreds of students’ State exams.
The school community is in mourning over the passing of Margaret Walsh (47), who passed away at her family home in Galway just two days before the beginning of the exams – many of the sitting students would have been taught English, History and CSPE by Ms. Walsh.
The school community in Wexford and small local community in Dunmore were in shock as the news broke.
In an announcement on its website, the school expressed its sympathies, saying: “The Presentation School Community is deeply saddened by the untimely passing of one of our teachers Ms. Margaret Walsh, teacher of English, History and CSPE, friend and colleague, who died unexpectedly on Monday, June 1 at her family home in Galway. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family at this sad time.”
Ms. Walsh had been a teacher in the school since 2002 and was described by her colleagues as having a “fine mind and an indefatigable spirit” as well as an “infectious love of learning”.
