A FIANNA Fáil Co. councillor, who had been tipped as one of the favourites to become the next Mayor of Wexford Municipal District, has had a judgement for over €20,000 registered against him by Revenue.
Cllr. Fergie Kehoe of 14 Mannix Place, who is listed as a café proprietor in the documents relating to the judgement, had the case registered against him on April 9, 2015 for €23,706. As of the beginning of this month, the judgement had not been satisfied by Cllr. Kehoe.
Cllr. Kehoe ran the well-known restaurant ‘Sidetracks’ on the quay for 18 years but in August 2014 sold the business off.
Speaking to The Echo¸ Cllr. Kehoe said the judgement related to the tax periods between 2010 and 2013 and explained that ‘Sidetracks’, like many other businesses, had been hit by the downturn, particularly the collapse of the construction industry which would have accounted for a large amount of the restaurant’s business.
