THE WRITER of a play, which will have its Irish premier in Wexford next month, is set to attend one of the three nights of performance at Wexford Arts Centre.

James Johnson, writer of ‘The Audition’ which is the second production by newly-formed group Raven Theatre, sent a Facebook message to the group letting them know that he would be travelling to Wexford for the play’s run.

‘The Audition’ is directed by Jayne O’Sullivan and stars Jessica Walker and Louise Wickham Dillon.

The 2004 play tells the story of Lauren (Jessica Walker), a young wannabe actress going into an audition for a ‘must have’, career-building part with a director who has particular notions on how an audition should be conducted. Lauren finds herself being pushed to her mental, physical, emotional and ethical limits. Stella’s question is simple: how far will an actress go to get the part?

‘The Audition’ which will be staged on July 3, 4, and 5 at 8 p.m. in Wexford Arts Centre. Tickets are on sale now from 053 91 23764.
