Lucy Wall Murphy on her final day at Bunclody Library.

Users of Bunclody Library services and staff have said goodbye to librarian Lucy Wall Murphy, who retired on August 31, after 35 years with Wexford County Council, and a special retirement function in her honour was held at Mount Wolseley Hotel, Tullow, recently.

Lucy enjoyed her time in the library service where she served under three County Librarians, Nora Connolly, Catherine O’Rourke and Fionnuala Hanrahan.

Lucy joined the County Council in 1980 when it established a part-time library in Bunclody, initially located in the old dispensary, then later in a premises off Main Street, and subsequently in her family premises in Irish Street.

She moved to the new library in Millwood, Bunclody when it opened in June 2007.

Lucy’s was a much-loved, fun-loving colleague, who wore her years of experience lightly and was dedicated in her service to Bunclody Library. Her colleagues wish her a long, happy healthy retirement.
