THOSE WHO were left disappointed by how quickly the tickets for the upcoming Brooklyn premiere at The Riverside Park Hotel will be delighted to learn that a second screening will be shown on the same night, Wednesday, October 28.
A total of 150 tickets were released for the premiere screening and people began to queue from 4.30 a.m. to get their hands on them. They eventually sold out within minutes and many people in the town were left disappointed.
However, yesterday (Monday) afternoon, it was officially confirmed that a deal had been agreed with the distributors Lionsgate UK for a second screening on the night. While the exact details have not yet been confirmed, it is believed that the second screening will take place at midnight on the same night as the premiere.
Around 300 tickets are expected to be released for the second screening and they will go on sale early next week at a price of €20. Exactly what day the tickets will go on sale has not yet been confirmed, but they will once again be available from The Riverside Park Hotel and demand is likely to be massive.
District Manager Pádraig O’Gorman was said to have been working behind the scenes for the past couple of weeks to secure the second screening for the town and yesterday it emerged that negotiations with Lionsgate UK had been successful.
The ballroom and reception area of the hotel are due to be transformed into a fully functioning movie theatre complete with tiered seating for the occasion. So far Saoirse Ronan, who is hotly tipped for an Oscar for her role in the movie, author Colm Toibin, Minister Brendan Howlin and Minister Heather Humphreys have all confirmed they will be in attendance.
Demand for tickets is once again likely to be considerable and they will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis with no other screening to take place in Enniscorthy.
The film will, however, be available to view on general release from cinemas nationwide from November 6.
