PARTNERS AND sponsors of Wexford Spiegeltent Festival were treated to a taste of what’s to come over the next few weeks as the countdown to the event began in earnest at a launch in The Crown Bar.

Comedian Joe Rooney, musician Jack L and performer Azaria Starfire were on hand to entertain the gathered crowd, who were informed that the ticket sales, so far, have been extremely good.

Joe Rooney, best known for his roles in Father Ted and Killinaskully, is part of a unique night of comedy at the festival entitled ‘The Spiegeltent Comedy All-Stars.’  Taking place on Thursday, October 15, the bill also includes Fred Cooke and Karl Spain.

Other acts in the multi-genre line-up include The Stunning, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Al Porter, Delorentos, Johnny McEvoy, Corner Boy, South Sea Collective, Wexford Male Voice Choir, Mundy, Paddy Casey, The New Triangle and various theatrical performances.

Some performances are already sold out – the iconic Albert Hammond, Bell X1, Steve Earle and the Dukes and the Saturday night Dylan Moran show.

Brian Byrne of Lantern Events, Festival organisers said: “Ticket sales are well ahead of last year and with four shows sold out and only limited availability for several other shows, the Festival this year will be the most successful yet. The economic impact of the festival for Wexford last year was €3.5 million and, with support from our sponsors and partners, this is set to further increase this year. We’d also like to acknowledge the support and assistance from Wexford Co. Council and Visit Wexford.”

Wexford Spiegeltent Festival takes place from October 14 to 26. Tickets are available from the box office at 1 North Main St., 053-91 99199 and from www.wexfordspiegeltent.com.
