Casper and The Goonies are the top Halloween movies for adults according to new research carried out by Kelkin popcorn.

Hocus Pocus came in a close third place behind the two classics while others favourited by adults were The Witches, Labyrinth, Bedknobs and Broomsticks.

The research also revealed that Casper was the favourite for the females with more than 20% of women picking the friendly ghost while males went for The Goonies.

The study shows that one in three Irish parents will sit down with their children to watch a movie on Halloween night.

Surprisingly, 39% of dads compared to 26% of mums will be watching a film with the kids according to the survey, which means the likelihood of a Goonies rerun are high for many children.
