Robbie Keane's MLS season is over after LA Galaxy were beaten 3-2 by Seattle Sounders in the Western Conference play-offs.

Neither the Republic of Ireland captain nor former Liverpool star Steven Gerrard could not prevent his side losing a thrilling match, which saw the Sounders book their place in the semi-final.

In a frantic start, it was 2-2 after just 22 minutes as Seattle goals from Clint Dempsey and Nelson Valdez were cancelled out by Sebastan Lletget and Gyasi Valdez.

The game eventually settled down and was decided by Erik Friberg's rifled effort 17 minutes from time.

Chris Rolfe's 83rd-minute goal gave New England Revolution a 2-1 win at DC United and a place in the Eastern Conference semi-final.

Rolfe slotted home from eight yards with just seven minutes remaining, atoning for a missed penalty moments earlier.

It completed an impressive come-from-behind win as Chris Pontuis' header on the stroke of half-time cancelled out Juan Agudelo's spectacular overhead kick for DC in the 15th minute.

DC's frustration spilled over in injury time as captain Jermaine Jones saw red for manhandling referee Mark Geiger after the official failed to award the hosts a blatant penalty.
