THE CHRISTMAS Lights were turned on in New Ross at the weekend.

Local sports stars, Shannon Mernagh and Joanne Richardson were joined by little ‘shepherd’ Eoin Stephenson and Cllr. Michael Sheehan, for the ceremony which was performed before a large crowd at the Tholsel on Saturday evening.

The switching on event was preceded by a parade through the town led by very special guest, Santa Claus.

In the glow of the lights Santa remained in town to meet all the children in attendance and make some final checks on their wish lists for Christmas.
