Aoife Byrne, daughter of former Fianna Fáil TD of many years service, Hugh Byrne, has been chosen to contest the 2016 General Election beside Enniscorthy’s Cllr James Browne, and Gorey’s Cllr Malcolm Byrne.
Formal ratification of the decision will take place this morning at a Fianna Fáil breakfast in Gorey, hosted by Cllr Malcolm Byrne and Mary O’Rourke will be the guest of honour.
Commenting on the addition to the party ticket, which will satisfy gender balance issues for the party, Aoife Byrne said: “I am honoured to be have been chosen by Fianna Fáil to contest the forthcoming General Election, to represent the people of Co. Wexford.”
Originally from Fethard on Sea on the Hook Peninsula, she has have lived in Wexford town for the past 15 years.
