A YOUNG mother of infant twins has died following a single vehicle crash on the outskirts of New Ross.

Judy Waters, from Ballycullane, and formerly of Killesk, Campile, was involved in a single vehicle road traffic accident at Camblin, less than one mile from New Ross, at around 4.50 p.m. on St. Stephen’s Day.

Ms. Waters, who was in her 20s, was the mother of baby twins. She was the only occupant of a car that collided with a wall at a location where there have been a number of fatal, and non-fatal, serious road traffic accidents in the past.

A spokesperson for New Ross Gardai said Ms. Waters was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body was removed to University Hospital Waterford.

The road was blocked off for a period of time in the immediate aftermath of the accident to facilitate an examination of the scene by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

The Gardai in New Ross are appealing for information from members of the public who may have been travelling on the road at Camblin around the time of the accident.

The station can be contacted on 051-421204.

Ms. Waters came from a very well known family who are highly regarded in the community.

She is survived by her parents, Tommy and Olive, her partner, John, children, J.J. and Olivia, brothers, Tom and Dennis, God-daughter, Ava, relatives and large circle of friends.

The removal of her remains will take place from Ryan’s Funeral Home, Wellingtonbridge, at 11 a.m. this morning (Tuesday), to St. James Church, Horeswood, for Requiem Mass at 12 noon.

Burial will take place afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Ms. Waters was one of five people to lose their lives on Irish roads in a 36-hour period over Christmas.

A seven-year-old boy died following a three-vehicle crash in Newtownabbey, Co Antrim, in which seven other people were injured including a four-year-old girl.

In other accidents a teenager died following a three-car collision in Cavan, a 16 year-old lost his life following an incident in Ballyfermot on Christmas morning, and a man in his 20s died after he was hit by a car on the outskirts of Castledermot.
