FINE GAEL has announced that Julie Hogan will be the third name added to its ticket in the Wexford Constituency for the forthcoming General Election.

The new candidate will stand along with Government Chief Whip Paul Kehoe and Senator Michael D’Arcy.

Julie Hogan of Parkside, Carcur, is the daughter of well-known musician Pat and Terrie and originally hails from Saltmills.

She was educated at Ramsgrange Community School and is a Team Manager at Eishtec in Wexford.

In a statement issued to the local press, Ms Hogan said: “I am proud and honoured to be a General Election candidate for the party. Fine Gael should be commended for seeking out fresh and young female voices, while at the same time opening the door to new candidates. This also opens the door to a new conversation in Irish politics, where gender is equally and fairly represented on the election ticket.”

Ms Hogan is well-known for her voluntary work with theatre with schools and educational projects, and activity on behalf of various charities: including St Clare’s Day Centre, Our Lady’s Hospital for Sick Children, and mental health charities.

She added: “I am proud to represent a party that encourages change, equality and empowerment of those who genuinely want to make a difference within their local communities. I believe I can advance the causes that are important to me, and to people like me in my constituency, particularly youth services, unemployment and supporting older people. Jobs are central to this cause. More jobs mean less tax for working people and more revenue to provide better services.”
